BTS's 'ARIRANG' is the first K-pop album to earn Platinum status in Italy. BIGHIT MUSIC said on November 4 that Italy's Federation of the Italian Music Industry (FIMI) certified the fifth studio album Platinum on November 2 after it crossed 50,000 equivalent units from physical sales, downloads and streams.

Yonhap and Aju Press both frame the award as a first for any K-pop act. FIMI's own certifications table lists 'ARIRANG' by BTS under EMI as platino for week 44 of 2026.

Italy had previously been a Gold-only market for BTS. Aju Press lists five earlier albums that stopped at Gold: 'LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer', 'MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA', 'MAP OF THE SOUL : 7', 'BE' and 'Proof'. 'ARIRANG', released in March 2026, is the first to clear the Platinum threshold.

The news lands as the 'ARIRANG' world tour moves into its Southeast Asia stadium run, starting in Kaohsiung this month.

Analysis

Interpretation by 2FC NEWSROOM, not reported fact.

2FC NEWSROOM analysis: Crossing FIMI's 50,000-unit Platinum line without Italian tour dates underlines how far 'ARIRANG' has traveled on sales and streaming alone. It also resets BTS's Italian ceiling after five Golds.

Conflicts of interest: None on the Platinum certification itself.
